Before applying for a grant, it may be helpful to read some books, visit some gardens and study garden catalogues
to help decide what you really want.
There is no special form to fill in.
Step 1
Applicants should be a member of the Trust’s Garden Club (full details on the Garden Club page).
Step 2
Applicants should ask their GP, social worker or occupational therapist to provide a written note describing their disability.
Step 3
Applicants should write a letter to the Trust giving details of the work they would like carried out.
The letter should include an estimate of the cost of materials and tools.
If labour is required, then original copies of 2 competitive estimates should be enclosed.
To make the most of the grant, it would be best to seek voluntary labour. Information about voluntary help can be obtained from the Citizens Advice Bureau, local community groups such as DIAL or a volunteer bureau. |
Remember to enclose the letter from the GP, social worker or occupational therapist! And a stamped addressed envelope would be much appreciated.
Checklist for letter (step 3)
- Description of work needed
- Estimate of materials and tools
- If labour is necessary, 2 competitive quotes
- Letter from health professional
- Stamped addressed envelope
Step 4
The Trust’s committee meet once a month to consider applications. They contact applicants as soon as practical either by letter or a phone call to discuss details.
Step 5
If approved a cheque will be sent by the Trust, normally made payable to the supplier.
Step 6
If possible, take a photograph of the completed work and send it to the Trust together with a receipt for the work done. We love having photos for our album! |
